My boyfriend's mom recently came back home from a trip to Vegas and she bought me these two lip scrubs. They're by a brand called Basin. I checked their website and apparently they only have two stores across the United States. I've never tried lip scrubs before, but these things are amazing. They exfoliate your lips and I've only been using them for a day, and my lips feel so much softer (I did read online that lip scrubs should be used sparingly because they might make your lips raw).

Where did the year go?! This past Tuesday, Chris and I headed to Victoria Gardens and came across this lovely tree. As I looked at the tree, it dawned on me - the year's really close to ending. Thanksgiving is next week, and when that's over, everyone's focused on Christmas. I'm actually looking forward to Christmas this year because I feel that I've saved a decent amount of money to get *good* presents for everyone on my list.
Little note, has anyone noticed that everyone seems to be in a rush during the holidays? Hmm.
'Tis the season

I have a newfound love for spending time baking and/or cooking. With the holidays coming, I decided to try baking red velvet chocolate chip crinkles from scratch. This is a very thick, brownie-like cookie, and the insides have bits of white chocolate chips. Not to toot my own horn, but they came out really good (and I made them from scratch!). I gave out a few to friends, and they (surprisingly) liked it! I'm thinking of selling them for the holidays, just so I can make some extra cash, eh?
I let my boyfriend try some, and his exact words were, "I'm kinda pissed you only gave me two cookies, really." I'll take that as a "these taste really good!".
If you live in California and would like to support a broke college student, please let me know and I will gladly bake you cookies. DOZENS OF COOKIES.

I'm not one to spend time in the kitchen, but lately I've developed an interest in cooking and baking (surprise, surprise!).

This is a really simple recipe for Honey Lemon Shrimp. You can always substitute the lemons for limes, as limes have a milder taste.
What you need:

I know most recipes give a certain measurement, but I just "winged it", and guessed how much I needed it. Basically, I just dumped a good amount of the spices to my liking. Then, I mixed everything in a Ziplock bag. Try to take out as much air from the bag as possible and shake it. After that, set the bag aside so the shrimp can seep in the flavor. I would recommend around 25 minutes, but I had work so I ended up marinating it for four hours.

(I have two bags since I made two batches!)
When you're ready to cook the shrimp, just do so in a large pan over medium-heat. Stir through until the shrimp turns pink. I drizzled a bit of honey while I cooked it, just to give the shrimp a sweeter taste. And ta-daaaa!

It actually turn out really good. A bit spicy (okay, maybe a little too spicy for my liking) but it was really good! I made something edible *laughs*. I was thinking of making rice pilaf to go along with it, but laziness got the best of me.
Until my next adventure in the kitchen!

In The Kitchen: Honey Lemon Shrimp
Trivia: Despite being 90% Asian (10% being Spanish), I grew up disliking sushi. However, that all changed when I met my boyfriend (who is very white) three years ago. Now, I'm a sushi fanatic in the sense that I'm always good for a sushi run.
The past week, I managed to eat at two new sushi restaurants!
1. Kan Pai

At Kan Pai, Chris and I both got the langoustine rolls, the baked and deep-fried ones. Their rolls were good, but they seemed a bit overpriced. They did put a good amount of langoustine on mine, so that makes up for the price, I suppose. Also, I had asked the server to add in avocado to my roll, and it made such a HUGE difference.
2. Sushi Fire

My friend, Kattie and I go for lunch dates every Wednesday. This week, we decided to branch out from our usual restaurant to try Sushi Fire. One word: DELICIOUS. I got the Baked Baby Lobster which was topped with chili sauce and holy smokes, best sushi roll I've had in a long, long while. I mean, the one from Kan Pai was good, but this one was better. I'm definitely getting this roll again. Soon. Maybe next week.
More trivia? I love lobster. I also changed my url, more on that someday.
